itinerary
| Day 1: Tuesday: Nairobi You are met on arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and transferred to the hotel. Overnight at Hotel Intercontinental Nairobi BB. Day 2: Wednesday: Lake Nakuru National Park Breakfast at the hotel then depart for Lake Nakuru National Park arriving in time for lunch at the lodge. Lake Nakuru is one of Kenya’s Great Rift Valley soda lakes, attracting the greater and lesser Flamingo. The lake can have up to a million flamingos feeding there as well as other birds like Egyptian goose, pelicans, African fish eagle, Grey Heron, pied Avocet. About 450 species have been recorded. Afternoon game drive. All meals and overnight at Flamingo Hill Camp. Day 3: Thursday: Maasai Mara Game Reserve Depart after breakfast and drive to Maasai Mara Game Reserve. Lunch at the lodge followed by time to relax before embarking on an afternoon game drive. Maasai Mara boasts an astonishing amount of game and is probably Kenya’s most famous reserves. The Mara landscape is stunning with endless savannas dotted with thorn trees. The famously black-maned Mara lions are possibly the stars of the Mara show, but cheetah, elephant, kongoni, topi, Thompson's gazelle, waterbuck, hyena, and primates are all here too. Birding is also excellent. Maasai Mara is the northerly end of the Great Migration; that great primeval surge of wildebeest, zebra and antelope that sweeps in from Serengeti as grass in Serengeti starts to fail. As it is naturally, they are tracked by the predators that pick off the weak, the stragglers and the young. The crossing over to Kenya is normally in July but the whole episode depends on the forage in the two parks. Afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at Mara Leisure Camp. Day 4: Friday: Maasai Mara Game Reserve Early morning game drive returning to the lodge for late breakfast. Lunch will be at the lodge followed by time to relax before departing for a late afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at Mara Leisure Camp. Day 5: Saturday: Lake Victoria Depart with picnic lunch boxes and drive to Serare border point where you join your Tanzanian driver guide and proceed to Lake Victoria arriving later in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Speke Bay Hotel. Day 6: Sunday: Serengeti National Reserve Leaving after breakfast, drive to Serengeti National Park to arrive in time lunch at the lodge. Serengeti is the main park to which the famous Masai Mara in Kenya is the extension. The name Serengeti is a Maasai word meaning an “endless plain”. A unique combination of divers habitat enables it to support more than 30 species of large herbivores and nearly 500 species of birds. Afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight stay at Serengeti Sopa Lodge. Day 7: Monday: Serengeti National Park Morning and afternoon game drives with all meals and overnight stay at Serengeti Sopa Lodge. Day 8: Tuesday: Ngorongoro Conservation Area Depart and drive via Olduvai Gorge (popularly referred to as the cradle of humankind) to Ngorongoro Conservation Area arriving in time for lunch at the lodge. Regarded as a natural wonder of the world, Ngorongoro crater has been declared a World Natural Heritage. The crater floor is jam-packed with wildlife including all the big game. Dinner and overnight at Ngorrongoro Sopa Lodge. Day 9: Wednesday: Ngorongoro Conservation Area Breakfast at the lodge then descend into the crater for a morning half-day crater tour returning to the lodge in time for lunch. The rest of the day at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge. Day 10: Thursday: Amboseli National Park Depart after breakfast and drive to Arusha for lunch after which you are transferred to Namanga border point where you join your Kenyan driver guide and proceed to Amboseli National Park arriving later in the afternoon. You will have a game drive en-route to the lodge. Amboseli is arid looking but has historically, supported both game and the Maasai people that kept their herds of cattle here. This is the first game sanctuary to be created and gazetted. Mount Kilimanjaro broods high over Amboseli, generally cloaked by clouds but appearing in all its snow-shrouded magnificence from time to time. Amboseli is famous for the high numbers of elephants inhabiting the park. Dinner and overnight stay at Amboseli Serena Lodge. Day 11: Friday: Amboseli National Park Morning and afternoon game drives in the reserve. The swamps on the east of the park attract wildebeest, zebra and antelope with the predators that live off them, chiefly lion which tend to be easy to view here. In the south, Enkongo Narok swamp attracts hippos to the larger pools and plenty of buffalo, waterbuck and teeming birdlife including the jacanas that pick their way elegantly and carefully. Giraffe, leopard, Cheetah, caracal and civet may be seen. All meals and overnight stay at Amboseli Serana Lodge. Day 12: Saturday: Return to Nairobi and depart Depart after breakfast and drive to Nairobi arriving in time to arrange for own lunch.
