CT 16 – 7nights Nairobi/Samburu/Sweetwaters /L.Elementaita/Masai Mara:

On arrival at the airport you will be met by our customer service representative and transfer to the hotel. A safari briefing will follow shortly after check-in. Overnight at Nairobi Serena on BB.

0730 hours, be ready at the hotel lobby for pick up and drive north to the semi-arid Samburu Game Reserve to arrive in time for lunch at the lodge. Lunch will be followed by afternoon game drive at 1630hours to view animals. 

Samburu Game Reserve lies north of the equator and it was renown as “Big Game Country” due to the many animal and birds that lived there. In the middle of the reserve, the Ewaso Ng’iro river flows through doum palm groves and thick riverine forests that provide water without which the animals in the reserve would survive in the arid country. It is one of the two areas in which conservationists George & Joy Adamson raised Elsa the Lioness made famous in the best-selling book and award winning movie Born Free. Samburu is home of the unique northern species of animals like the Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, grevy’s zebra as well as large numbers of elephants & buffalo. Other animals are lion, cheetah, leopard, impala, gazelles etc with over 450 species of birds. 

Return from the game drive to the lodge later in the evening for a shower before dinner. All meals and overnight at Samburu Simba/ Samburu Ashnil Lodge .

fter breakfast drive towards Mount Kenya region and Sweetwaters Game Sanctuary to arrive in time for lunch at the camp. 

This is a 90,000 acre wildlife conservancy situated between the foot hills of the Aberdares and the magnificent snowcapped Mount Kenya.  The Conservancy boasts an astounding variety of animals including the non-indigenous chimpanzees and the big 5 (the endangered black rhino, leopard, elephant, buffalo and lion). The combination of amazing wildlife and stunning views across the open plains of Ol Pejeta guarantees an unforgettable safari experience. It is the only place in africa that offers the opportunity to see both chimpanzees and the big 5. The Conservancy is home to over 40 Chimpanzees, 73 endangered black rhino, 5 endangered white rhinos, elephants, lion, leopard, buffalo, grevy zebra, giraffe, cheetah, thomson’s gazelle, black-back jackals, ostrich, grant’s gazelle, baboons, waterbuck, oryx, eland and several hundred bird species.

Leave after breakfast and drive to L. Elementaita located in Soysambu Conservancy to arrive in time for lunch at the lodge. Afternoon game drive.

Soysambu is a 48,000 acre Wildlife Conservancy, also a RAMSAR site – a wetland of international importance. The alkaline lake’s rocky islands are the only East African nesting site for great white pelicans, while its algae and plankton provides food for vast flocks of flamingos and a multitude of other waterfowl, many of them rare. The Conservancy protects over 450 bird species and 15,000 wild animals. Rothschild giraffes have found a safe haven for breeding here, while a diverse variety of terrain shelters many species – from herds of giant elands to tiny dik-diks and cliff-dwelling klipspringers. Night game-drives offer a unique opportunity to spot nocturnal creatures including the curious-looking aardvark and elusive leopard. Walking is also allowed, with chances to experience the miracles of the bush close-up.          All meals and overnight at L.Elementaita Serena Camp.

 

Leave after breakfast and drive to the world famous Masai Mara Game Reserve. Arrive in time for lunch at the lodge followed by afternoon game drive. 

The Mara is perhaps best known for the Great Migration, which takes place every year July to September. During these months the yellow savannah is dotted black by more than 1.5 million wildebeest, zebra and antelopes that migrate from the Serengeti to the Mara in search of food and water.

Mara and Serengeti parks are interdependent wildlife havens. This is where the world’s largest multi-species migration takes place. The movement is, centered around the wildebeest migrating from Serengeti into Masai Mara during the dry period in Tanzania, crossing the mighty Mara River on their way. The Great Wildebeest Migration rightfully deserves its standing as one of the natural world’s most astonishing spectacles. Compromising of more than 1.5 million wildebeest, zebras and antelopes, the Great Migration constitutes the last surviving multi-species migration on the planet.  All meals and overnight at Mara Serena Lodge.

Full day spend in Masai Mara with morning and afternoon game drives. During the migration period, it is advisable to on a full day game drive with picnic lunch box. Return to the lodge later in the evening.                                              All meals and overnight at Mara Serena Lodge. 

Leave after breakfast and drive back to Nairobi to arrive in time for lunch or transfer to the airstrip for flight back to Nairobi at Wilson airport. Meet on arrival and transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International airport for your flight home.
